Brzezinski, MFA, owner, director, teacher, choreographer, has been dancing her entire life, with a strong foundation in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop and West African dance techniques. Starting at the age of 2 and a half, she began studying dance under the instruction of her mother, Lois Butcher-Poffley, PhD, and over the years has had the privilege of training with very talented and esteemed artists such as Henry Roy, Viktor Eliohin, Eva Szabo, Caroline Bones, Shandra Staley-Walker, Ione Nash, Leon Evans, Ann Vachon, Eva Gholson, Jeanne Ruddy, Merian Soto, LeVaughn Robinson, Roni Koresh, Wayne St. David, Fernando Bujones, Molly Misgalla, Kun Yang Lin, and Ruth Andrien to name a few. More about Carrie

Ms. Brzezinski earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2001, where she was awarded a Promising Artist scholarship. She founded her professional dance company, Venus, in 2003 and began performing original, contemporary modern dance works regularly in Philadelphia venues, including the annual “Female Persuasions” series at the Arts Bank Theatre,”A Dark Haired Night” at the Drake Theatre, “Goddesses” at the Arts Bank, “Searching the Spectrum” at the Lion Theatre, and in University of the Arts Alumni performances at the Merriam Theatre. In the last few years while attending graduate school, Mrs. Walsh has focused mainly on solo work, and was included in 2008’s Fringe festival as part of the “Stray Cats Collective”. Venus continues to prepare for upcoming performances in the 2011 Philadelphia Fringe Festival where a new, evening length work, “Re/live/fe” will debut at Hip Philly in the Piazza at Schmidt’s.

Ms. Brzezinski will also be appearing in a new work by Michael Roberts, MFA at Chi Movement Arts Center. Her choreographical work has included themes of human nature, fact as it relates to fiction, fantasy, human relationships as well as sociological and political issues. Her movement style reflects classical and contemporary aspects of Modern dance and her preference for navigating the fine line of delicacy and strength, hard and soft, and what can be deemed as conventionally “pretty” and the decidedly awkward. She strives to reach the empathy and human-ness in audience members and relate to them the idea that sometimes there is no stronger form of communication than physical expression.

Ms. Brzezinski recently received her M.F.A.in the dance program at Temple University, where she has had the pleasure of being an Adjunct Faculty member.

Ms. Brzezinski has performed all over Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley in Venus, Underground Dance Works, The Monarch Dance Company,The A.D.D. Company and also as a Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleader. She is also a professional musician performing as a solo act as well as acoustic duos. Mrs. Walsh was formerly the lead singer with bands such as Jumper, American Tabloid, and Monkey Bus, appearing along the east coast from Boston to Virginia, all over the Philadelphia area and Atlantic City. She currently maintains residencies at the Trump Plaza and the Tropicana casinos.
Ms. Brzezinski began teaching dance as a teenager, and has had the pleasure of instructing students in a variety of settings. She has taught at a few fine dance schools in Montgomery County, as well as Upper Dublin Township programs, the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for Performing Arts, Temple University, and has served as Dance Director at the Abington YMCA.
